Late Weekly Newsletter

This post expired on June 24, 2023.

For Chrome users or plain text users, you will find this easier to read if you go to the Market and choose Weblog…it’s easier on the eyes!

Greetings All:

Market was busy, busy on Thursday! We had David, The Roastin’ Fool and Bruce of My Daily Bread sharing the goodness of their products with Market folks! Delicious treats were bountiful and the guys antics’ kept us entertained between busy spells!

Now – If you want to skip reading the rest of my musings, which do include Market News, Weekly Specials, Farmer of the Week information for this Thursday, news about upcoming Events and Classes, little known facts and tidbits about ‘this and that’ and links to interesting Blogs and/or articles, and a personal note from me then click Take me to the Market.

You can access this and other Newsletters/Blog postings by clicking on the Weblog tab on the website!

Still here? Great! Grab a small glass/cup of your preferred beverage let’s see if I can make this short and sweet since I am so late in getting it out!

Gratitude

A special thank you to both Leah Drisdell and Cristal McCoin! Leah was there to help Mary and I tote all of our Market “stuff” from our cars to the Center and help set up tables and do the initial organization! Cristal came at the start of Market pickup assisting customers, getting their orders, toting purchases out to cars, keeping the tables organized and helped us close Market, break down displays, pack up and break down tables – a huge job! We are so grateful for your help! Have a wonderful time on your vacation, Cristal! We will miss you and look forward to your return!

Welcome

This week we welcome, Sam Jones of Cedar Creek Farm! Sam’s herd of Jersey cows will be providing the Market with rich, creamy, fresh and delicious raw milk. Sam’s girls graze on 1200 acres of organic pasture and carry the A2 gene which make their milk easily digestible. All raw milk is labeled for Pet Consumption which is the only way raw milk can legally be sold in the state of Georgia. Give your pets a treat and order some today! Please Note: All orders for milk must be place by Monday at Noon!

Education

CheeseMaking 101 was held this past Saturday and 7 ladies took home some delicious cheese that they made with their own hands! It was informative and fun! Mary will offer this beginners class again in July! Learn the basics so you can join in the Intermediate and Advanced Classes to be offered later this summer and into the Fall!

Updates

Duck Eggs
The Ducks are happy and Duck eggs are once again available!

Produce Availability
Fry Farm, Back River Farm, Doug’s Garden and Phoenix Gardens have a plethora of gorgeous and tasty produce for us this week! Check out all of the wonderful offerings our Farmers have for us this week under Fruit and Veggies categories! There are red thumb potatoes, blue potatoes, gold potatoes, red fingerlings that are actually pink (on the inside) potatoes — That is a LOT of potatoes! Check out the non potatoes! – lots of green veggies listed, purple turnips, violetto beans, yellow squash, white onions, purple beets! Aren’t we colorful? And — we have Tomatoes! Three different varieties add to the rainbow of colorful veggies available this week! And don’t forget the Cucumbers!

Blackberries Vicky of Fry Farm has listed Blackberries again this week! The ones I got last week were fabulous! They are my most favorite fruit and I look forward to the harvest while it lasts! I will be freezing some to see me through the winter! Can’t wait for Thursday pickup!

Blueberries Lisa of Bo and Lisa’s Lil Patch are offering fresh Blueberries! Will you get some extra to freeze or make Jam or Syrup for Pancakes and Waffles? Let us know – send pictures!

Peaches are still available! We had White Peaches delivered on Thursday from Watsonia Farms. This week we will have both White Peaches and Clingstone varieties available. Be sure and put your preference in the Comment section for the product on the Check Out page! Have I told you how much I love peaches! Fresh, they are great – but come winter when I am craving some ‘summer’ fruit, grabbing some frozen peaches sure helps chase away the blues!

Raspberries Sadly, it appears that Raspberries are finished for this season!

Volunteers

If you are interested in volunteering at Market pickup for set-up, Vendor delivery, Customer pickup, breakdown or any / or all of the above, please contact us! We would love to have you!
